We have avoided the using photos, drawings, and other graphics when possible. We feel that this minimizes distraction while reading lessons. While it is possible that additional graphics would make the website more visually appealing, they would also reduce the effectiveness of the lessons. Back to Top ↑
Algebrahelp.com does not provide individualized assistance. We feel that our time is best spent creating public lessons, calculators and other materials which help massive amounts of students. If you have a question that could not be answered by our lessons or calculators, try this Google Search for "Math Tutor" to find a one-on-one tutoring website. If you feel that a lesson or calculator on algebrahelp.com was not ideal in helping you learn a particular topic, you may use our Feedback Form to tell us how we may improve it. Back to Top ↑
When algebrahelp.com began creating calculators, Java Applets were the most effective means of providing access to our calculators. Today, many web browsers do not support Java Applets by default. Thus, algebrahelp.com has begun moving to new technology that does not require a Java enabled web browser. We have already converted several of our calculators to use this new technology, but a few legacy Java Applets remain. If you are having trouble with a legacy Java Applet calculator, install the Java Plugin, or check back in a few weeks to see if the calculator you require has been converted. Back to Top ↑

The problem -32 is in fact -9. This is due to the order of operations - exponents take precedence over negative signs - therefore, 3 is squared before the negative sign is considered. If the problem were (-3)2 the answer would in fact be 9. You may wish to consult the Order of Operations Lesson for an in depth explanation. Back to Top ↑
Algebrahelp.com does not currently provide individualized assistance on homework problems. We feel that our limited resources are best spent creating lessons and calculators which help large numbers of people.
That said, if you have trouble with a specific example or worksheet problem on algebrahelp.com, we would like to hear exactly where you find difficulty, so that we may improve the associated lesson or calculator. Please use the Feedback Form to notify us of such issues. Back to Top ↑
